WHAT
ARE WE TRYING TO BUILD?
We are
striving to build a
centre
for the region's children, families, carers and visitors that
will enable young people to explore their world.
It will be
based upon
the model of the Curiosity
and Imagination
Centre.
Our latest events for children

Space Days June & July 2008
We
are pleased to have had the opportunity to deliver a number of Space
Days to a wide variety of schools in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
The
ImagineNewmarket team, with the support of the project sponsors have
enabled nearly 500 children to enjoy a sequence of days - with a range
of imagination stirring activities...
- to make and launch their own
rockets
- to learn about our solar
system
- to learn about
galaxies
- the history of manned
space flight

The image resources we developed as a backdrop to our space days are
available for download on our archive page.
They are in .wmv format and range from 10Mb to 30Mb file
sizes.
All the images are in the public domain and we are especially grateful
to both NASA and the Hubble project.
Our
archive page is here...

Who are we?
We are a
community organisation
that strives to fund-raise, spread the word about our project and
engage children and young people in all our processes.
How long have we been going?
We have been
together as a
committee for some four years now.
What have we achieved?
This web site
is a record of
the energy and outputs we have achieved.
We have
delivered a number of
successful 'design
and build' events with children and young people - activity
days where young people have generated ideas for our project.
In 2008 we
plan to hold a
series of seven event themed days for schoolchildren in our region.
How have we achieved this?
Our activities
to date have
been delivered entirely through the generosity of our volunteers,
sponsors and supporters.
This support
has ranged from donations
of services from local private sector companies public sector
organisations, to the time and input given to our
project by their employees, partners and officers.
Our plans for this year?
Apart from the
schedule of
events mentioned above, we plan two significant activities this
year.
To capitalise
on our work to
date and begin to raise the core funding needed to deliver our
building. To achieve charitable status, or the legal constitution that
best suits our aims, in order to maximise our energies and capacity to
deliver.
Our web pages
will give you
more information on how
we work to support children and young
people, keep
you updated on new activity and let you know how we are doing against
our targets.
A bit of a mission statement...
The
aim is to deliver a
building that will help young people to discover meaning in people's
lives beyond their own
natural
horizon and which will foster their sense of connection with
life and create positive visions for their future.
Based
on a model developed by John
Pearce, which
affirmatively
enhances the understanding and skills of young people through
play and hands-on activities as a primary learning tool. This
type of engagement will allow parents and carers to play a full
part in this development process. Fun will happen too.
